St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa, who had a strangled relationship with former outfielder stud-in-waiting Colby Rasmus, unloaded on the disgruntled player this afternoon once Colby’s trade to the Toronto Blue Jays went through.

Rasmus has been a clubhouse distraction since he came to the big leagues. His father, Tony Rasmus, has also head-butted with LaRussa and intermingled within the organization in a very troubling way over the years.

St. Louis Post Dispatch beat writer Bernie Miklasz tweeted the following two quotes from LaRussa:

La Russa on the opinion that he can’t work with young players: “Paying attention to nonsense is counter-productive.”

La Russa on Rasmus and young players: “it can be tough for them to take coaching. They’ve been spoiled.”

In answering my question it was obvious that La Russa has been bothered by the perceived interference of Colby’s father, Tony Rasmus.

La Russa denied that he forced the trade to get rid of Ramus. “Absolutely not.”

It seems Tony held his tongue long enough. Will Colby ever mature and turn into the superstar that many believe he is talented enough to become? Time will tell!

However, I believe Rasmus is the second coming of J.D. Boo (Drew)!!!

One day after taking a few subtle digs at his teammates on injured reserve, Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, told Sal Paolantonio at ESPN that he talked to fellow Packer Nick Barnett and “ironed things out”. Rodgers had told reporters at Saturday’s press conference that some players on IR didn’t “choose to stick around”. The implication being that since they weren’t rehabbing with the team, it was their own fault if they were being left out of any team activities. After his statement, it’s possible there was some team pressure on Rodgers to work it out with players like Barnett:

“I initiated the conversation. We ironed things out. I didn’t think there needed to be an apology on either side,” Rodgers said.

“I reminded him I was the one who went to the third floor and lobbied to have everyone in the team photo. I realize people are going to want to talk about this at the Super Bowl, but everything is cool.”

Rodgers original statement was, in part, due to ‘tweets’ from Barnett and fellow teammate Jermichael Finley regarding the team picture which was due to be taken Tuesday – 2 days before the injured reserve players were to arrive in Dallas.

“All I wanted to be is included as a teammate nothing more,” Barnett tweeted. “Looks like it has backfired on me.. I guess That was asking too much… Sorry if I offended anyone.”

A quick lesson boys and girls: This is the fundamental issue with airing out a problem to the public instead of having an actual conversation with the people involved. Comments with be misconstrued, emotions will get read incorrectly, feelings will get hurt and the problem will usually just get worse. Have the courage to have a real conversation with another human being. You might actually like it.

So, the next time you want to tweet about your boyfriend or your parents or your friends or employer while looking for some quick cheap affirmation from people you probably don’t even know…think again. Because if social media can make wealthy, grown men look like idiots, what do you think if will do to you?

Villanueva took to his Twitter account early this morning to call out Garnett for his outlandish and despicable taunt:

Villanueva went on to Tweet why the low-class, insensitive jab pissed him off:

Garnett has been a glorified thug on the court for several years, perhaps his entire career. His unintelligible rant after he won a title with the Celtics a few years back was eye-opening.

Kevin Garnett just lacks common sense. Obviously, nothing seems off limits to him.

I’ve seen KG play several times in person, and even once with him sidelined in street clothes, and it’s always the same, him yelling and screaming obscenities at other players, no matter if he is on the court or not. He didn’t give a damn if there was dozens of kids sitting in the lower bowl of the arena that could hear every word he was yelling at his opponents.

Almost all of us have lost a close friend or family member to cancer. It is ugly, disgusting, and doesn’t discriminate who it strikes.

There are some things in life, cancer for sure being one of them, that you don’t joke about or use to talk trash to another human. I am not sure I am a believer in karma, but I do believe cancer, unfortunately ends up reaching and claiming people close to us at one point or another.

Hopefully, some good can come out of this sad incident. Garnett will apologize. The NBA might even fine him. I just hope he is sincere in his apology.

UPDATE: Kevin Garnett has responded and lies claims that he said Charlie was cancerous to his team and the league.

“I am aware there was a major miscommunication regarding something I said on the court last night,” Garnett said in a statement from his representatives released by the Celtics. “My comment to Charlie Villanueva was in fact, ‘You are cancerous to your team and our league.’ I would never be insensitive to the brave struggle that cancer patients endure. I have lost loved ones to this deadly disease and have a family member currently undergoing treatment. I would never say anything that distasteful. The game of life is far bigger than the game of basketball.”

First, I think Garnett is lying. Secondly, his explanation is not much better than what Villanueva claims he said.

Retired NFL player Rodney Harrison, who currently is an analyst on NBC Sunday Night Football, took an on-air shot at Buffalo Bills WR Terrell Owens when he described Owens as a:

“straight-up clown more interested in stats than winning.”

Owens wasted no time, immediately going to his Twitter account (@terrellowens) to call Harrison out on his use of steroids (actually busted/suspended for HGH use for the first four games in 2007 ). Owens took a tweet shot at Harrison last night and has continued non-stop all morning against Harrison, who won a NFL Super Bowl while a member of the New England Patriots.

Owens Tweets Hitting Harrison High and Hard:

I could less about Rodney Harrison! Anybody tht using steroids, yes STEROIDS rodney, is a cheater & cheated the game!

Is tht Y u used steroids b/c u were worried about ur stats or ws it b/c u were losing it? Lol! U’re a loser & a cheater? Got any steroids I cn borrow?

Hey rodney! Send me sum steroids 2 the Bills facility next week!

Since I kno the media reads my tweets, will sum1 ask rodney how long the cycles take b4 I feel results of the steroids whn he sends em? Lol!

So Rodney, I’m thinking if u overnite it 2day, I’ll get em by 2morr @ noon. Better yet, mark it Priority!! I “really” wanna b a CHAMPION like u!!

Hey Rodney if I really considered using them, could u please lv instructions on how & where 2 stick the needle just like u did 2 assure I do it rite!

My bad Rodney! I hv been corrected by ur supporters, u used HGH nt steroids! So, every1 go ahead & use HGH!! Geez, I guess tht makes it better 2 use!!

Harrison was voted the ‘dirtiest player’ in the NFL several times by fellow players in Sports Illustrated polls. He was suspended and fined several times for dirty and illegal hits on the field.

More power to Owens for busting Harrison’s chops. NBC is dumb for putting Harrison on the air. Harrison is an idiot for taking shots against active players. To me it breaks the player code a bit.

Owens might be goofy and an extremely selfish player, but no one can doubt his talent or achievements on the field over the years. He is a Hall-of-Famer and by all accounts has worked hard in the gym to sculpt his greek god-like body.

Harrison was a dirty player, cheating on the field and likely just as much off of it to obtain every advantage he could to dominate on it.

No way this saga is over yet. Stay tuned for updates from Owens and to see if Harrison gets in a rebuttal as well.
