ESPN NFL analyst Merril Hoge was scathing in his opinion of Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow earlier tonight on ESPN.

Some would argue that Hoge was just doing his job while others thought he was just looking for ways to slam Tebow.

Merril slammed Tebow on Twitter in this fashion:

“Sitting watching tape off bronco offense from last year! Orton or Tebow? It’s embarrassing to think the broncos could win with tebow!!”

Hoge had the following to add about Tebow on ESPN:

“He is awful as far as accuracy goes and what’s kind of even more disturbing, he’s probably worse moving and running around with the football and throwing than he is from the pocket,” Hoge said. “Can you get better there? A little bit. If everything is perfect, the pocket, your feet are good, all your fundamentals come into place, the coverage is what you want it, you can be successful. But that doesn’t happen at the National Football League. Rarely does that happen.”

Tebow sarcastically thanked Hoge via Twitter:

Hey Merril…… ‘ppreciate that

Then unexpectedly LeBron James unleashed a series of tweets in Tim’s defense:

Tim Tebow will succeed in the NFL. He’s a hard worker, a student of the game, a natural born leader and most of all a WINNER! It takes time and he’ll be nice

Listened to Merril Hoge today on SC and he was just blasting Tebow. The man hasn’t even play a full season and its only his 2nd year in.

Guys get on that TV and act like they was all WORLD when they played. How bout encouraging him and wishing him the best instead of hating!!

James is right though. Tim has been successful at nearly everything he has performed in life, even down to helping give circumcisms in the Phillipines while doing missionary work.

Tebow has just played his rookie year and showed promise over the three games he started. He also showed that he had a lot of work to do as well to complete the transition to the NFL.  It’s also hard to believe that anyone out there is outworking Tim Tebow in the offseason or in-season.

Nice PR move by LeBron for the deeply beloved Tebow.  But in some ways Tebow is very polarizing and might have taken the polarizing QB mantle from the on-again, off-again retired Brett Favre.

Rasmus has been a clubhouse distraction since he came to the big leagues. His father, Tony Rasmus, has also head-butted with LaRussa and intermingled within the organization in a very troubling way over the years.

St. Louis Post Dispatch beat writer Bernie Miklasz tweeted the following two quotes from LaRussa:

La Russa on the opinion that he can’t work with young players: “Paying attention to nonsense is counter-productive.”

La Russa on Rasmus and young players: “it can be tough for them to take coaching. They’ve been spoiled.”

In answering my question it was obvious that La Russa has been bothered by the perceived interference of Colby’s father, Tony Rasmus.

La Russa denied that he forced the trade to get rid of Ramus. “Absolutely not.”

It seems Tony held his tongue long enough. Will Colby ever mature and turn into the superstar that many believe he is talented enough to become? Time will tell!

However, I believe Rasmus is the second coming of J.D. Boo (Drew)!!!

Is anyone else watching this?  In an NFL Combine press conference, Jets Head Coach, Rex Ryan, has just guaranteed that his team will win Super Bowl XLVI.

#EA Rex: “I thought we’d win it the first two years,” he says of the Super Bowl. “I guarantee we’ll do it this year.”

Now, it’s not the first time Ryan has made guarantees.  He guaranteed the Jets were better than the New England Patriots, and the team proved it by knocking the Pats out of the playoffs in Foxboro.  That is, after the Jets were destroyed by New England in the regular season.

The problem is, Rex Ryan is in danger of becoming a caricature of himself if he keeps up this bravado without consistently backing it up.  He should remember that great coaches do their talking on the field.  If the Jets, again, fail to make the Super Bowl, do fans just blow it off as Rex being Rex.  Or are there actual consequences for running your mouth too much.  I get the strong feeling that, in New York, there are.

Dunking over a car.  Awesome idea.  It drove the fans at the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest wild.  Everyone knew it was coming.  Everyone was waiting for it.  But now there’s evidence that the idea was not original.  At least, not from Slam Dunk champion Blake Griffin.  If fact, it looks like Griffin got the idea from a fan.  A fan who thinks he deserves a little recognition for coming up with the dunk that most people would agree won the contest.  According to TMZ:

The guy with the gripe is Michael Scrivner – who claims he was watching ESPN earlier this month when he saw Griffin asking fans for dunk ideas … so he fired off a twitter message to Blake on Feb. 8 specifically outlining the car dunk — complete with the pass from inside the sun roof.

Scrivner’s upset that Griffin took the idea and didn’t even thank him for it.  Which makes sense.  It would be nice for our idols to at least acknowledge fans, especially when the fan does something that directly affects their career.

Scrivner adds, “If he already had the idea for the dunk, why go on SportsCenter asking for ideas? It would be one thing if I had said to just dunk over a car, but the dunk was spot on everything I suggested.”

Then again, it’s not impossible that Scrivner and Griffin came up with the same idea independently.  But it is conspicuous.

After the Los Angeles Lakers blew out the Cleveland Cavaliers 109 – 87 at the Staples Center Tuesday night, Lebron James had this to say on Twitter.

Crazy. Karma is a b****.. Gets you every time. Its not good to wish bad on anybody. God sees everything!

Obviously, King James had taken exception to the way he was treated when he and his new team, the Miami Heat, last visited Cleveland.  Knowing his ego, it was probably impossible for James to take the high ground.  And given the time signature, it looks like he sent the tweet before the game even ended.

The Boston Celtics Paul Pierce took to his Twitter account (@paulpierce34) on Thursday night after the Celtics’ dominating win against the Miami Heat to take a jab at LeBron James and his ill-fated ‘Decision’ this past summer where James infamously stated, “I’m going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat.”

In the Tweet after the Celtics 112-107 win over the Heat, Pierce simply said:

“It’s been a pleasure to bring my talents to south beach now on to Memphis”

LOL! It doesn’t get much more direct and funnier than that.

ESPN’s Bill Simmons quickly added via Tweet:

Oh sh*t! It’s on like donkey kong. RT @paulpierce34: It’s been a pleasure to bring my talents to south beach now on to Memphis

This insta-feud between the Celtics and Heat is quickly turning into entertaining basketball and and off the court.  Now if only the Heat could be competitive on the basketball court it would be even better.

The Celtics are now 2-0 against the Heat this year.

Bumpshack.com is reporting that Los Angeles Lakers wannabe bad-boy Matt Barnes was arrested for domestic violence against his girlfriend on Wednesday in Sacramento, California. The charge is a felony domestic violence charge.

The authorities determine Barnes was the primary aggressor and he was promptly arrested and booked for suspicion of domestic violence and maliciously obstructing the use of a telephone line. Barnes was released on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday (September 13).

Sadly, this comes as no surprise, given the reputation of Barnes, both on and off the court.  Hopefully he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if the charges against him are in fact true.

Barnes idiotically told a TV reporter that he was the victim and tweeted, “DON’T LET YOUR EARS WITNESS, WHAT YOUR EYES DIDN’T SEE!!!”

On a positive note, it looks like Barnes has mastered the mugshot at this point.

The answer is NO!  But Lorenzen Wright did question Chris Bosh’s sexuality in a Tweet he posted on July 14th, just 5 days before he was murdered in Memphis when he simply asked ‘Is Chris Bosh gay?!’

So Wright tweets about Bosh’s sexuality and five days later he is dead?

Reasons Why Bosh Might Have Killed Wright:

• Wright questioned his sexuality by asking his Twitter followers if Bosh was gay (a legit question by the way, but one which could weaken the already weak opinions on Bosh, as he attempted to claim his position as the 5th most important basketball person in the Miami community behind Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Pat Riley, and Mike Miller (HA!).
• Plenty of money to do or hire as many of the Miami Mafia as he pleases to do the job for him.
• Plenty of free time after wasting most of the Summer listening to NBA teams make pitches to him while pretending he was interested (and not already pre-packaged to Miami).

Although the odds of Bosh, of all people, doing anything that aggressive are about nil (I joke above), but that doesn’t mean there aren’t clues on Wright’s Twitter account (@MisterWright42) about his tragic death.

After researching all 375 tweets made on the account since April 5th I found some disturbing info, tidbits, and perhaps clues, that hopefully the Memphis, Collierville, and Germantown police are at least looking into.  But they are the same people that flubbed up Wright’s 911 call and didn’t connect that a hang-up call from his cell phone on July 19th with gunshots in the background and his disappearance for nearly a week might be related and a sign of foul play.

Wright tweeted back and forth with Trevino Vassar @bigvino92 on May 31, 2010, in retrospect what is a disturbing exchange of tweets:

WRIGHT: “f*ck you bish”

VASSAR: “F*ck u boy I gt that heat for ur ass @MisterWright42”

WRIGHT: “fuck wit me bighead and see what happen!”

VASSAR: “U no were I stay boy cme on down and gt toe tag @MisterWright42”

WRIGHT: “keep yo eyes open nigga don’t go to sleep hoe cause I’m under yo bed bish!”

VASSAR: U to long bish to gt under there its on I no wat u did last summer @MisterWright42“

Wright then tweeted to his Twitter followers: ‘Black Mask Ren’ later that night at 9:27 pm CST.

Armed men showed up at the house of Wright’s ex-wife Sherra Robinson Wright weeks before his death, looking for him.

This exchange between the two could be innocent, two friends (cousins?) ribbing each other back and forth, but Vassar should be questioned about the messages by the police.  Vasser made only 18 tweets since May 31st and nearly half of them were aimed at Wright.  He likely had nothing at all to do with Wright’s death, but he should be questioned.  He should be asked especially about what he tweeted about knowing what Lorenzen did last summer (friends/cousins often know the good, bad, and ugly on all of us), along with the threats the two tweeted towards each other.

This case will be solved. Someone will get loose lips and tell someone something or brag to a buddy or gang member about their hideous act.

To be fair, if Bosh and Vasser are questioned, then Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick should be as well.

Wright tweeted on July 11th: “Watching sponge Bob and is wondering is Patrick and sponge bob Gay? I’m just sayin”

ESPN personality Skip Bayless ruptured his bicep 6 months ago that required surgery.

He tweeted the photo (above) just minutes ago along with the following note praising his doctor:

Me, just 6 months after biceps surgery. Can’t tell which side was ruptured. Bless You, Dr Glashow

WOW Skip!  Skip busting out the guns in the weight room. Bayless looks to be in great shape for a near 60-year old.

The biggest excitement at the 2010 ESPY awards in Los Angeles was how smoking hot Sports Nation co-host Michelle Beadle was in her red dress.

She tweeted the photo above from her hotel room before heading over to the awards.

Twitter was being slammed with simple messages exclaiming Michelle’s hotness. Many tweets simply said ‘Michelle Beadle > Erin Andrews.’

I’ve been saying that for months. Andrews is plain vanilla. Beadle is Black Cherry with sprinkles on top.
