It is never, ever a good idea to invade the field of play. At least, not within a full minute of the game ending. Seriously. Storming the field/court can get you trampled by fellow fans and sometimes even punched by opposing team players. However, it’s understandable when over-zealous fans fall out of themselves immediately after a huge win. But when you’re an actual cheerleader, working the game? That’s almost inexcusable.

Much to male cheerleader Jordan Alcazar’s relief, Rick Pitino has decided not to murder him. He’s not even planning – as far as we know – to assault, maim or hire a couple of guys to rough him up. In fact, Pitino was quite kind to the young man who almost cost Pitino and his team, the Louisville Cardinals, a huge win over Pittsburgh. According to ESPN:

Pitino says he talked to cheerleader Jordan Alcazar a few hours after Alcazar gave Pittsburgh a chance to force a second overtime Sunday. Alcazar jumped onto the floor before the game ended and grabbed the ball. The Cardinals were hit with a technical foul, Pittsburgh made two shots and then tried a desperation 3-pointer before losing 62-59.

Louisville’s Kyle Kuric had appeared to seal the win with a dunk. Thinking the buzzer had sounded, Alcazar tossed the ball in the air. However, 0.5 seconds remained.

Pitino says there are no hard feelings and told Alcazar to “enjoy your moment of glory, have some fun with it. Your children will be able to keep the footage.”

Now, imagine what Bobby Knight would have done in that situation. I’m pretty sure Alcazar’s entire family would have been ‘disappeared’ within a week.

That said, here is a little friendly advice to every kid who’s a huge fan of their college team. Unless you’re an actual member of the team, don’t get involved with anything that happens during a game. Just don’t do it. The chance of doing something heroic is infinitesimal, whereas the chance of doing something stupid that will get you ostracized by the entire student body is more than likely. It’s just not worth ruining the rest of your college career and seeing you’re face plastered on signs warning you not to come back on your way out of town.

Enjoy the wins, but enjoy them from the stands. Wait until the final buzzer has sounded. In fact, wait until the refs have already left the floor. After that, you’re golden. Before that, you’re the goat.

King’s Island Amusement Park in Ohio is in the center of a spooky and gruesome Halloween controversy after images leaked (see above) of a display at the park’s annual Halloween Haunt.

Tennessee Titans fans are particularly outraged over a display of two skeletons on a sofa. One of the skeletons wearing a Steve McNair jersey with his head blown off along with a dead woman in his lap which is suppose to be Sahel Kazemi.

Kazemi if you remember was McNair’s girlfriend who killed the all-pro quarterback before turning the gun on and killing herself. McNair was found dead on Kazemi’s sofa with Kazemi extremely close in proximity.

The McNair/Kazemi display has been removed, but park director Don Helbig gave this warning to a local news station before the removal of it.

“(There’s) a lot of intense imagery, suggestive themes and things like that, so if you have young children, don’t bring them to Halloween Haunt,” recommended Helbig.

Other skeletal homages to recently passed away celebrities included Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Ed McMahon, Ted Kennedy and Farrah Fawcett.

Ledger’s skeleton was dressed as the Joker with pill bottles covering the ground below him.

What do you think about the Halloween display? Not that big of a deal or cold and insensitive?
