Maybe Lebron James really is that good.  Perhaps he does carry entire teams like he apparently did in Cleveland.  More on that in a moment.

Nearly half of the Detroit Pistons declined to show up to work on Friday, protesting their own offense, the coach John Kuester and the fact that none of them had been traded away to greener pastures.  According to the Detroit News:

Tracy McGrady, Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton and Chris Wilcox did not show up to Friday’s morning shootaround.  Ben Wallace also wasn’t present, but has been dealing with an ongoing family matter for the past several weeks.

Various Pistons players have had their share of issues with coach John Kuester this season, and many have been vocal — privately and publicly — in their criticism of the second-year coach.

The players have not been happy with their coach, seemingly all season, for the way he communicates, among other reasons they’ve given.

Detroit was the subject of myriad trade rumors and buyout options for good reason — the team is thick with former stars who think they deserve better, without actually playing “better.”

But lets focus on the positive, shall we?  There was one piece of defense in this ridiculous 245-point slugfest between two stumbling teams.  Check out the monster block JJ Hickson put on Blake Griffin late in the second half that helped seal the win.

The Cavaliers have a chance to make it 2 in a row – shudder to think – by beating the Washington Wizards at home on Sunday.  The Wizards are actually the one team in the NBA that could finish behind the Cavs this season.  This is gonna be epic.

Now, there’s a kind of magic about it.  Instead of viewing it with disdain or contempt, some us are cheering it on.  It’s a ride few of us will ever experience, probably not more than once in a lifetime.  Sure, there was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  They were truly awful, at one point losing 26 games in a row.  That’s over one and a half seasons of football…lost.  Very impressive, bordering on spectacular.

Now, however, there comes a team that has not only challenged the Bucs ridiculous losing streak, but matched it.  And soon they’ll play for sole possession of history.

All hail the Cleveland Cavaliers, the soon-to-be worst team in sports history.  Last night the Cavs lost again.  This time to the Detroit Pistons.  This loss, in particular, should make fans hopeful that Cleveland can break the all-time loss record.  According to ESPN:

Cleveland’s first-year coach unloaded on his team during and after a listless 103-94 loss on Wednesday night, extending the Cavs’ NBA record skid to 26 and tying them with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers — the longtime national punchline for failure — for the longest stretch of incompetence in major American pro sports.

“I’m mad as hell,” said Scott, who kept the postgame locker room closed for more than 30 minutes. “I can deal with losing, especially when our guys play as hard as they have in the last couple weeks, but I find it very hard to deal with when guys don’t come out ready to play.”

Not ready to play.  Excellent.  This is exactly what fans want to hear.  Frustration and despair have officially given way to apathy.  If that’s not a recipe for losing, I don’t know what is.

The Cavs can seal their place in infamy against the Los Angeles Clippers.  This game comes at the perfect time, right before Cleveland takes on the winless-on-the-road Washington Wizards.  That’s a beatable team, even for the Cavs.  As long as the Clippers take care of business, our boys will break the record.  If the Wizards had been scheduled before the Clippers, that record would probably have been in jeopardy.

No matter how one may choose to spin the facts, the Cleveland Cavaliers suck.  But it doesn’t end there.  Not only do the Cavs suck, but they are challenging past bottom feeders of the NBA for the title of the “Suckiest Bunch of Sucks that Ever Sucked.”  At least for a single season.

Cleveland has just lost its 23rd game to the Memphis Grizzlies 112-105.  That’s 23 games…in a row.  That’s not bad.  That’s historic.  They are just one loss away from tying their own record of 24 losses in a row over two seasons.  A feat they can accomplish Saturday night against the Portland Trailblazers.  Awesome.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Cavs hung with the Grizzlies for 3 blistering quarters, but reverted to their former suckitude – oh yeah, it’s a word – at the beginning of the 4th:

Memphis scored the first 13 points of the period, and the Cavs had three turnovers and didn’t score until Antawn Jamison made two free throws with 8:19 left in the game. By then, of course, it was too late. Jamison got clobbered inside with no call and was called for one of those ridiculous respect-the-game technicals when he complained with 5:08 left.

It’s no wonder these guys sit at the bottom of the recent NBA Power Rankings list.  The loss of Lebron James to the Miami Heat seems to have had more than a physical effect on the Cavs.  They have all but imploded.  In 2009, they finished 61-21, the best record in the NBA for the second year in a row.  Now, they’ll be lucky if don’t finish with the worst record.

Perhaps it’s the team’s chemistry.  The Cavs added All-Stars Antawn Jamison and Sebastian Telfair but they lost James – the league MVP for the second year in a row.  It’s not easy to forge a team from a new core of players and expect the same results.  It could be a while before this team actually comes together.  Unfortunately, Cavs fans should probably accept this season as an unexpected – but necessary – rebuilding year.

After the Los Angeles Lakers blew out the Cleveland Cavaliers 109 – 87 at the Staples Center Tuesday night, Lebron James had this to say on Twitter.

Crazy. Karma is a b****.. Gets you every time. Its not good to wish bad on anybody. God sees everything!

Obviously, King James had taken exception to the way he was treated when he and his new team, the Miami Heat, last visited Cleveland.  Knowing his ego, it was probably impossible for James to take the high ground.  And given the time signature, it looks like he sent the tweet before the game even ended.

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day….

NBA mega-star LeBron James might not have a new contract just yet, but the basketball prince has set himself up as ‘King James’ or @KingJames on Twitter.

LeBron has yet to tweet but already has over 50,000 followers in just 24 hours.  He has also not uploaded a profile or icon photo.

Most NBA followers expect James to resign with Cleveland Cavaliers within the next 10 days.

If true that would do it.  Odds of LeBron and Delonte being on the same team next year?  Most already believed Delonte was missing a few screws upstairs.

When pulled over cops quickly discovered that West was packing more heat than a vintage Rambo action figure.  West had two hand guns in his pants, one in his pants leg, and a shotgun he was carrying in a guitar case that was strapped to his back.

Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a Prince George’s County police spokesman, said West was carrying a Beretta 9mm handgun, a Ruger .357 magnum handgun, and a Remington 870 shotgun. Copeland said the penalties West could face if convicted had not been determined.

I guess that Plaxico Burress guy wasn’t on the news enough for the trouble he got into for carrying a loaded hand gun last year in NYC.

The funniest part is the shotgun in the guitar case. Is West moonlighting as a hitman for the mafia?
