Saints Punishment per ESPN:

Saints coach Sean Payton has been suspended for one year, former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was suspended indefinitely, general manager Mickey Loomis was suspended for the first eight regular-season games, the team was fined $500,000 and lost two second-round draft picks (one in 2012 and ‘13) as a result of a bounty program conducted by the team during the 2009-11 seasons.

Saints assistant coach Joe Vitt also was suspended six games and fined $100,000. The NFL said in its statement that the suspensions for Payton, Loomis and Vitt are without pay.

This is a devastating blow to the Saints who recently won a Super Bowl under Payton.

Goodell has been serious about reducing violence in the league since taking over as commissioner.

Perhaps this will bring an end to bounties in the NFL.

Evil stepfather John Elway has traded quarterback Tim Tebow to the New York Jets for a 4th round pick and 6th round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The move was just a matter of time after the Denver Broncos signed future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning on Tuesday.

Tebow will go to the Jets were he will be Mark Sanchez’s backup for the time being…until it’s Tebow time!

The Jacksonville Jaguars must really want to move to Los Angeles because trading for Tebow would have put people in the stands.

Blake Griffin, of the L.A. Clippers, threw it down so hard on the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kendrick Perkins tonight that he might have destroyed Perkins for the foreseeable future.

In one of the most powerful dunks in recent NBA history Griffin took a pass off the pick-n-roll from Chris Paul and jumped higher than anyone on the court before tomahawking the ball back and bringing down the thunder on the Thunder’s center.

Legendary Philadelphia sports columnist Bill Conlin has resigned from the Philadelphia Daily News in the wake of a story by Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Nancy Phillips that accuses him of sexual molestation/abuse of children.

Per Deadspin:

The Philadelphia Inquirer’s top investigative reporter, Nancy Phillips, has written a story containing what we’re told are allegations of child molestation against sportswriter Bill Conlin, a longtime columnist at the rival Daily News. Conlin resigned just moments ago, according to a source at the Daily News.

The Jerry Sandusky case has been horrific, but all of the alleged victims coming forward in relation to Sandusky, Bobby Dodd, Bernie Fine, and now Bill Conlin is proof that one’s courage can be contagious to others.

Conlin is a member of the Baseball Writers Association of America and won the J.G. Taylor Sprink Award earlier this year.

Tim Tebow fever and hysteria has hit an all-time high in the wake of the Denver Broncos winning streak from a series of late-game heroics.  That pitch has hit an all-time high this week and Saturday Night Live didn’t bypass a comedic opportunity to cash in on the Tebow craze.

In the skit, Jesus Christ visits the Broncos locker room following the Broncos overtime win over the Chicago Bears last weekend.

An amazed Tebow practically jumps Jesus before Jesus tells him to back off and sit down so he can speak.

Jesus played by actor Jason Sudeikis, “Well, you know, here’s the thing.  I just go where people call me the most. Nowadays, that is a lot of football games. Also, the country music awards. You know, I decide all of those.  Agghh, I’m right there at any black event where food is served.”

The New York Post is reporting that legendary New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter sends off his one-night stands with an autographed baseball…signed by himself of course.

“Derek has girls stay with him at his apartment in New York, and then he gets them a car to take them home the next day. Waiting in his car is a gift basket containing signed Jeter memorabilia, usually a signed baseball,” the friend dished.

All was well with Jeter’s partying gifts until he accidentally hooked up with the same girl twice, he had forgotten a prior tryst, when she was given a second gift set, complete with another Jeter autographed baseball.

An autographed Jeter baseball can fetch north of $500 dollars.

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, fresh off a divorce, is denying rumors that she is dating Denver Broncos star quarterback Tim Tebow.  She watched the Broncos win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday from the Tebow family box at the game.

She tweeted: “Hearing a lot of crazy rumors but rest assured I am NOT dating Tim Tebow (or anyone else). I’m just friends with his family. xo, LV”

Well most things usually start as friends.  If Tebow did wreck her marriage then it would be one of the more compelling bits of drama in sports given Tebow’s strong beliefs.
