Venus Williams served up 12 aces to the 40-year-old Kimiko Date-Krumm in a comeback bid that propelled Williams into the third round at Wimbledon. She then proceeded to give Date Krumm a few backhanded compliments. According to the Kansas City Star:

“She doesn’t play anywhere near her age,” Williams said.

“She played unbelievable today,” Williams said. “I thought she had some luck on her side, too, with net cords, balls hitting lines. I just thought today was a perfect storm for her to try to get a win.

“Thankfully,” Williams added, “I had some answers.”

Williams probably should have learned, sometime over the past 15 years, to be a bit more magnanimous in victory. Sore losers are bad, but nothing looks worse than a former champion chalking her opponents strong play up to “luck”. Williams was helped by her 120 mph serve; a serve which Date-Krumm had a hard time fielding:

Date-Krumm, who reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 1996, quit tennis later that year, then came out of retirement in 2008, marveled at Williams’ serve afterward, saying: “Not only speed — it’s on the corner. So it was very, very difficult to break her.”

I wonder why Date-Krumm didn’t chalk Williams’ “on the corner” serves up to luck. Oh, right…because that would be poor sportsmanship. Again, you’d think that the 31-year-old Venus would have learned that by now.

Congratulations, Venus. But if you win your next match, try to keep you insecurities to yourself. It’s really unbecoming of someone of your skill and stature.

Andre Agassi retired several years ago as one of the greatest tennis players and personalities of all-time. He and since then has been adored almost unanimously in the sports world…until this week.

On Tuesday we first learned via a Twitter Tweet that Agassi, according to his autobiography ‘Open,’ that he used the toxic and dangerous drug, crystal meth, back in 1997. He even failed an ATP drug test and proceeded to lie to the ATP in a letter he sent them claiming that he accidently took it via a soda his buddy left open.

Bumpshack is now reporting that Agassi goes on to reveal in his auto-bio that he wore fake hair, yes a toupee, at least during some point of his pre-Mr. Clean days.

Sometimes its best to just keep your mouth shut and typewriter locked away in the closet. Maybe Andre feels better for letting this off his chest but it just sullies his reputation in the tennis world and in general. Come on, I mean crystal meth? Did someone not tell Andre he was beyond rich and could afford cocaine?

There is not a more damning and damaging drug than crystal meth. Google ‘crystal meth’ some time and look at the image results. It is a human transformer and a cheap and deadly dangerous drug.
