The condition is know as rhabdomyolysis. It is, in effect, the loss of muscle fiber into the blood stream caused by over exertion. And 13 Iowa Hawkeyes football players are currently suffering from it.
Sports Illustrated reports that University of Iowa officials are ordering an investigation into what actually caused the players’ condition. The article states:
