Weis was a long time assistant in the NFL before becoming the head coach at Notre Dame. He then worked for a year as the Kansas City Chiefs as their OC before departing to Florida to join Will Muschamp’s staff.

The Turner Gill era at Kansas was a disaster.  The hire of Weis very likely could work out.  They don’t play defense in the Big 12, and Weiss is an offensive genius.

Weis wasn’t great at Notre Dame, but he came close to figuring it out.  If he can learn to delegate duties then he might end up being a good college head coach.

The best tweet I saw about the Weis hiring said something like this, “I hope Kansas didn’t throw out Mangino’s wardrobe.”

Sports by Brooks is reporting that Ohio State University has come to an agreement with former Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer to become the next head coach for the Buckeyes.

The deal between Meyer and Ohio State was consummated in principle earlier this week in Columbus but not signed. It includes a multi-year contract that will make Meyer once again one of college football’s highest paid coaches.

In additon to Meyer’s generous compensation package, sources said a major factor in the coach’s decision to agree to take the position was the school promising him the budget to assemble what is expected to become the highest-paid assistant coaching staff in college football history.

Meyer would replace Jim Tressell who resigned earlier this year after getting caught up in an ugly scandal with the NCAA regarding Buckeye players trading memorabilia for tattoos.

Meyer is 104-23 in his coaching career and 7-1 in bowl games.  He won two national championships while the head coach at Florida.  Before that he was the head man at Utah and Bowling Green.

Meyer is rumored to be interested in adding Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Spielman, Jon Tenuta, and Greg Studwara to his staff.

This is the best hire OSU could make. Urban wanted time off, but the opportunity to coach in the state he was born in and played his college football in was likely too much to pass up.

McQueary went on to state in the email that he talked to with the police after the incident.

“I did stop it, not physically … but made sure it was stopped when I left that locker room … I did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police …. no one can imagine my thoughts or wants to be in my shoes for those 30-45 seconds … trust me.”

Added McQueary: “Do with this what you want … but I am getting hammered for handling this the right way … or what I thought at the time was right … I had to make tough impacting quick decisions.”

If true, this is even more damning for everyone else involved in this elaborate coverup of unthinkable evil.

Perhaps this is why Penn State hasn’t fired McQueary.  It only make sense that they know more than the public does about McQueary or else they would have canned him along with Joe Paterno and the school’s president.

Either that or the Board of Trustees is afraid of what McQueary might say if he isn’t under contract where they can control him.

Reportedly, another ten people have gone to the police claiming they were molested/raped by Sandusky.

Veteran sportscaster Bob Costas interviewed the notorious Jerry Sandusky on Brian Williams’ Rock Center with Brian Williams tonight via phone while Sandusky’s attorney, Joseph Amendola, sat next to Costas.

In the video, Sandusky denies sexually abusing young boys. He hesitates when asked if he is sexually attracted to underage boys and tries to dance around it.

He said Paterno NEVER said a word to him about anything relating to him and young boys.

Sandusky told Costas, “No, I don’t think it’s my fault. I’ve obviously played a part in this.”

Sandusky says that the Mike McQueary’s accusation of him raping a 10-year old boy in the Penn State locker room shower is incorrect. Sandusky claims that him and the boy were just horsing around, slapping towels against each other.

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno was fired last night (full story) for not doing enough in the wake of the massive child sex abuse allegations against his friend and former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

Many idiotic Penn State students and fans rioted last night in the streets of College Station upon hearing the news of Paterno’s dismissal.

It makes one believe that there is no way they have read the Grand Jury report against Sandusky stating the heinous things he did to minor boys.  If they had then surely no way they’d be rioting. (WARNING: Not for minors or those easily offended. The details are graphic and very sad.)

It appears that actor Ashton Kutcher is just as idiotic after his erratic tweet (full story) last night blasting Penn State for firing Paterno.

Paterno didn’t molest boys, but his inaction and failure of leadership allowed Sandusky to continue to do it in private and in Paterno’s locker room showers.

The Penn State University Board of Trustees met tonight and came to the much needed conclusion to fire head football coach Joe Paterno and school president Graham Spanier.

The news came down minutes ago in a press conference held by the Penn State BOT.  John P. Surma, Vice Chairman fo the Board of Trustees, made the announcement at a 10:00pm ET presser.

The Board told Paterno via phone.  The vote was unanimous.

Joe Paterno announced earlier today that he would retire at the end of the season.  That simply wasn’t good enough or fast enough.  Paterno never seemed to grasp the extreme nature of what had happened or his role in it.

Paterno lost his job for not doing enough when he learned that former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was caught having sex with a 10-year old boy in the Penn State locker room.  A 28-year old assistant coach told Paterno of what he had witnessed after walking in on Sandusky violating the boy.  Paterno claims he told his Athletic Director and that was it.  He never followed up on it or reported it to the police.

Many believe that was an epic failure by Paterno considering he is the most popular and important person at Penn State.  The AD has answered to Paterno for decades.

Sandusky has been indicted on over 40 counts of sexual abuse against children.  He was seen, as late as last week, working out in the Penn State weight room.  His football camp has been held at a Penn State satellite campus since his stepped down as defensive coordinator back in 1999.

Paterno’s first words, according to the AP, upon being asked about the Board’s decision, “Right now, I’m not the football coach, and that’s something I have to get used to.”

Penn State didn’t ban Sandusky from the campus until November 6, 2011.

Current defensive coordinator Tom Bradley has been named as the interim head coach for the Nittany Lions.

UPDATE: Thousands of students have gathered in what looks like could evolve into a riot scene.  One report states that they have already claimed one light post by bringing it down.

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is either every bit of 84-years old or else just doesn’t give a damn about the victims that former PSU defensive coach Jerry Sandusky molested and sexually assaulted.

Paterno held an impromptu press conference outside his house tonight. He walked out to massive cheers from Penn State students.  He was smiling, joking, and soaking it all in.

He then mumbled about 10 seconds worth of words about what had happened in regard to the sexual abuse victims.

Paterno quickly then returned back to making the celebration a pep rally and led the students in Penn State cheers.

The guy is clueless and he might just as well be an enabler too.

He is the captain in charge during perhaps the most disturbing scandal in college football history and he is smiling and leading the student body in cheers.

His time has come, Joe must go!

The Stanford Cardinal beat the Southern California Trojans 56-48 in triple-overtime late Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Stanford was up 10-6 at the half before USC rallied in the final quarter on a pick-6 off of a Andrew Luck interception.

Stanford rallied back to tie it with 38 seconds remaning on a Stepfan Taylor 2-yard touchdown run.

Trojans coach Lane Kiffin failed to call a timeout as USC quarterback Matt Barkley was leading his team down the field in the last few seconds of regulation.

Each team scored a touchdown (and extra point) in the first two overtime periods.  In the third one, Stanford scored a touchdown on another 5-yard TD run by Taylor.  Luck complete a 2-pt conversion pass to Coby Fleener to give Stanford a 56-48 lead.

USC was unable to score on it’s final possession as the #6 ranked Cardinal escaped with the win.

Luck finished with 325 passing yards on 29/40 passing for 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.  USC’s Barkley 28/45 for 284 yards for 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.

The game was perhaps the most exciting game of the college season so far as most were calling it an instant classic.

USC has a lot of young talent and should be ranked in the top 10 to start next season.

A very angry and spiteful ex-girlfriend of Michigan Wolverines quarterback Denard Robinson hacked his Twitter account and unleashed a fury of tweets blasting him for his lack of faithfulness.

“Hi. Yes, I hacked you lol. You are the most disgraceful person I have ever met in my entire life! You cheated on me our entire relationship!”
