Legendary UCLA Coach John Wooden Passes Away at 99

The Wizard of Westwood, John Wooden, has passed away in Los Angeles at the age 0f 99-years old. Wooden’s death had been reportedly near, and even falsely reported, several times over the past 48 hours. He passed away at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Wooden, the most famous and successful basketball coach ever, led the UCLA Bruins to 10 National Titles in a 12 year span. His overall record as a head coach was 885-203. From 1963-1975 his Bruins teams went 335-22 winning 88 consecutive games during that time, a record that will never be broken.

He coached at Indiana State for three years (1946-1948) before moving west to coach the Bruins from 1948-1975.

Wooden’s wife Nellie died from cancer in 1985. He held her memory close the following 25 years and visited her grave on the 21st of each month as well as writing her love letters that he kept together.

Boxer Edwin Valero Found Dead in Jail Cell from Suicide

WBC boxing champion Edwin Valero, who admitted to killing his wife over the weekend, was found hanging dead in his jail cell from suicide. The troubled boxer used his own clothes to create a noose and end his life.

Venezuelan police chief Wilmer Flores told reporters how Valero was found:

He said Valero was found by another inmate, who alerted authorities in the police lockup in north-central Carabobo state. Valero still showed signs of life when they took him down, but they were unable to save him and he died about 1:30 a.m., Flores said.

The 28-year-old was detained Sunday on suspicion of killing his wife. Prosecutors said Sunday night that they had planned to charge Valero in the killing.

Horrifying Steve McNair Halloween Murder Display

King’s Island Amusement Park in Ohio is in the center of a spooky and gruesome Halloween controversy after images leaked (see above) of a display at the park’s annual Halloween Haunt.

Tennessee Titans fans are particularly outraged over a display of two skeletons on a sofa. One of the skeletons wearing a Steve McNair jersey with his head blown off along with a dead woman in his lap which is suppose to be Sahel Kazemi.

Kazemi if you remember was McNair’s girlfriend who killed the all-pro quarterback before turning the gun on and killing herself. McNair was found dead on Kazemi’s sofa with Kazemi extremely close in proximity.

The McNair/Kazemi display has been removed, but park director Don Helbig gave this warning to a local news station before the removal of it.

“(There’s) a lot of intense imagery, suggestive themes and things like that, so if you have young children, don’t bring them to Halloween Haunt,” recommended Helbig.

Other skeletal homages to recently passed away celebrities included Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Ed McMahon, Ted Kennedy and Farrah Fawcett.

Ledger’s skeleton was dressed as the Joker with pill bottles covering the ground below him.
