Sportscasm’s 2009/10 NBA Award Predictions

Andre Agassi retired several years ago as one of the greatest tennis players and personalities of all-time. He and since then has been adored almost unanimously in the sports world…until this week.

On Tuesday we first learned via a Twitter Tweet that Agassi, according to his autobiography ‘Open,’ that he used the toxic and dangerous drug, crystal meth, back in 1997.  He even failed an ATP drug test and proceeded to lie to the ATP in a letter he sent them claiming that he accidently took it via a soda his buddy left open.

Bumpshack is now reporting that Agassi goes on to reveal in his auto-bio that he wore fake hair, yes a toupee, at least during some point of his pre-Mr. Clean days.

Sometimes its best to just keep your mouth shut and typewriter locked away in the closet.  Maybe Andre feels better for letting this off his chest but it just sullies his reputation in the tennis world and in general.  Come on, I mean crystal meth?  Did someone not tell Andre he was beyond rich and could afford cocaine?

There is not a more damning and damaging drug than crystal meth.  Google ‘crystal meth’ some time and look at the image results. It is a human transformer and a cheap and deadly dangerous drug.

Charlie Davies of the USA national soccer team was seriously injured in a car crash early Tuesday in the Washington, D.C. area.  Davies, a forward on the team, was taken by helicopter from the scene to a local hospital where he was treated for extensive injuries.

Sgt. David Schlosser, spokesman for U.S. Park Police, told the Insider this morning that the accident investigation will take at least one to two weeks. “It’s a complicated crash reconstruction,” he said. “We won’t have any answers right away.”

Hospital officials have stated that Davies has a lacerated bladder, fractured right leg,face and left elbow.

Team USA played Coasta Rica to a 2-2 tie tonight at RFK Stadium in D.C. on Wednesday night. Fans help up “9″ (his uniform number) signs throughout the match.

Davies is not expected to heal fast enough to play in the next years World Cup.

When the AP Poll is released, we will have a new team ranked #18. If I’m the coach of that team, I’m taking extra steps to make sure my team is prepared for the week ahead.  Why?

The No. 18 team in the AP poll is 0-4 so far this season.

• #18 Florida State lost to Miami.
• #18 Notre Dame lost to Michigan.
• #18 Utah lost to Oregon.
• #18 Florida State (twice? OUCH!) lost to USF.

Even more bizarre? The victor has been an unranked team every week.

Here is the released prison mugshot of jailed New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress.  Burress started serving a two year sentence for criminal possession of a weapon earlier this week in New York.

The last time Burress was in a green uniform was back in his college days at Michigan State for the Spartans.

He is serving his sentence at Fishkill Correctional Facility in New York.

Here is secret footage from Brett Favre’s first day in training camp as a member of the Minnesota Vikings. Favre appears to emotionally be all over the place before the Vikings coach decides to take the matter into his own hands and settle his quarterback controversy once and for all.

The Heisman hopeful QB of the #2 Texas Longhorns looked downright average at times on Saturday night and it was apparently because he battled the flu all week. Of course, that was news to everyone once the game was over.

In fact, while the flu does impact college teams, it’s popping up quite frequently as a nice excuse, especially when teams don’t perform quite like they were expected.

The #1 Florida Gators, who struggled to put away an unranked Tennessee team many expected to get violated by the Gators, has been struggling with the flu, too, it seems.

The Vols coach, Lane Kiffin, had a different take on the outcome of the 23-13 loss.

I don’t know. I guess we’ll wait and after we’re not excited about a performance, we’ll tell you everybody was sick. (ESPN)

Leave it to Kiffin to not mince words. Players getting sick is not a new trend, but methinks Kiffin isn’t off the mark either.
