A 23-year-old man acting as a “human cannonball” in a UK stunt show was killed after the safety net he was to fly into failed.
They said they believe the death was caused by the safety net “failing to engage,” but did not provide further details.
“Scott May’s Daredevil Stuntshow” said on its Website that all shows have been canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
The show has toured the U.K. since 1991, and features Monster Truck destruction, car-crushing and crashes, fire stunts and the human cannonball.
Usually, when one thinks of a “human cannonball” getting killed during a stunt, it has less to do with the net and more to do with the fact that a guy is actually being shot out of a large piece of artillery. I guess that’s what makes this such a “freak” accident. Also, for some reason the stuntman’s name is not being released. Must be a union thing.
