The NFL Network reports that a 24 hour extension of the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement has been approved. It’s really no surprise that this short extension of the NFL’s CBA has happened. What’s surprising is that either side thinks they can get anything new done in the next 24 hours. Over two years have gone by and nothing regarding this agreement has gotten done – except in the court of public opinion.
It’s more likely that this is just a tool to quickly negotiate a longer extension, but perhaps the owners have something special in mind. Somehow I doubt it. The fact is, the players hold all the cards and the owners are really looking like greedy bastards who don’t care what happens to their employees or their clients – the fans.
Stay tuned.
