Jay Glazer is reporting that the New England Patriots are close to trading disgruntled star WR Randy Moss back to the Minnesota Vikings.
Moss began his career in Minnesota, playing his first seven years with the Viks. He was then traded to the Oakland Raiders where he played for two years before they traded him to the Patriots.
If the trade can be pulled off the Vikings would be immensely improved with Moss aiding Brett Favre on offense. They will also get a boost with injured WR Sidney Rice returns from injury.
And now it’s official. Randy has been traded to the Vikings per ESPN:
The Vikings will send a third-round 2011 draft pick to the Vikings in return for Moss and New England’s seventh-round draft pick in 2012, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Boston Herald Patriots’ beat reporter Ian Rapoport is reporting, via twitter, that “After Week 1, Randy Moss had his agent Joel Segal call Bill Belichick and ask for a trade, The Herald’s Karen Guregian has learned.”
