Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Randolph, who enjoyed a rejuvenation to his career this past season, has been named in a criminal investigation into a drug ring in Indianapolis.
“According to a probable cause affidavit, a trusted police informant identified Memphis Grizzlie player Zach Randolph as a major marijuana supplier in Indianapolis.“
Remind you that Randolph only makes around $17 million annually with the Grizzlies. It’s complete legit as to why Randolph would want to risk his career and add to his Benjie stack.
The case pivots around one of his buddies that was pulled over in front of a drug house, in an Escalade registered to Zach, that had firearms and marijuana inside. The police then obtained a search warrant for four storage buildings that Randolph had rented in his name.
Based on information found in the Escalade, police later raided a northeast side storage facility, where they said Randolph rents four lockers.
According to the affidavit, a police K-9 alerted to controlled substances in two of the four units, and police found more cars with secret compartments inside
With Randolph’s criminal history it is hard to give him the benefit of the doubt. I do know the Grizzlies should think twice, then once more, and then finally decide to not extend his contract that expires after this next season.
